I'm really enjoying working at Hengest & Horsa. This island isn't a bad place at all to work. My boss loves the having around the extra hands to keep the places clean. Cleaner that is. He's a stickler for these things. I'm honestly not sure if we could get this place cleaner, but if you think you can then he'll probably pay you on the spot. Not on the spot maybe, but once you proved your cleaning prowess. I'll warn you though, no magical solutions. He doesn't even trust Muggle brand cleaners. He has his own concoction mixed with elbow grease. Just don't let him know I used a bit of Johnsons Klear on the floor or he might have a fit. It's never been shinier though, maybe he'll appreciate something new. I'll wait on it. If he does like it though, I'll have to get in touch with mum about counter cleaners and brass shiners. She can always go for solid muggle chats like that.

A smashing holiday if I do say so myself. Mum seemed nice and happy for us all to be together. We went to church, of course! I feel terrible for skipping so often, but it's not all that common to find churches in wizarding communities I've found. This is a terrible assumption however, which I must do more research before I can actually back that statement.
I'm back at the island a bit early so I could speak with the owner of the potions shop. I knew they'd been hiring and I'd meant to ask, but I just never found the time. The place smells a little stale, but it's a fine job and until I get myself a place to stay he's letting me sleep in the basement. I didn't expect somewhere so close to the water to have a good basement.
Oh, wow, maybe "good" wasn't the exact word to use. I think something sprang a leak. I'll take my chances sleeping on the floor in the shop.
I do still have access to my job in Diagon Alley, but quite honestly I find this island intriguing. Besides, I enjoy trying different venues before getting bogged down to one place.

Those N.E.W.T.S really are sneaking up, aren't they? No matter, we'll all do fine! Just keep studying and working hard and it won't be the slightest bit of a problem. The weather's a bit chilly, but nothing unexpected right? The holidays are coming up and that should be fun! I love winter, it's refreshing! The crisp air, the evergreen trees, it's quite amazing if you ask me. The entire season is magical, in an unwizardly sort of way.

I'd almost miss the little thing if it wasn't a biter. It's nice being out and about again. I did get a lot of studying done. If there wasn't less than a month, I'd go try to pick up a job in town like I meant to before. I highly suggest everyone having a chat with the new ghosts! They're fascinating to speak with and full of knowledge. Silva seems to enjoy talking, especially about her heritage. I don't know how much I believe her, but I've told her if she could show me her family tree somewhere then I'd be more inclined.

If anyone needs me, I'm up in the Infirmary. Nastiest thing. I thought I just had a charly horse and it's some thing in my knee, like an actual thing. Oddest thing I've ever heard of. They haven't been able to get it out yet. I can feel it move around a little. I'd prod at it myself, but it took a nip at Madam Pomfrey once already.
I'll have to tell Trevor all about this one, he'll never believe it. Maybe if they can get it out we can cage it and submit it to science after I let Trev have a look. I still feel a cramp, but not as bad as before. That's good I suppose, it means it hasn't eaten away at anything. It's not near anything vital so I'm not too weird. Just curious. I haven't been in the forest since this fog started, so it's probably not something I just picked up. You should all probably clean your sheets, everyone seems pretty baffled about where this thing came from.
Lisa, I've already made notes about this that I can give you. I think I'll be here until it's out, so could we relocate the study group for a couple of days?

This no magic thing is different! I think it's a good experience for all of us. Sometimes I think we use magic a little too much. I've seen Fourth years levitate a biscuit to them when they could have just asked nicely for someone to pass them one. I'm sure I won't see that now. That's nice, everyone can use their own two hands and walk on their own two feet. It'll be challenging, but I know we can all handle it! I have faith in us. Babysitting will probably be interesting without magic as well.

The attic isn't so bad no, is it? It's a little creepy now, but we can get used to it I guess. I'm not going to touch the relics with a ten foot pole. We only have three months. The gate is sort of intimidating. I wonder if it's the same on the girls' side, I haven't even tried to stick my head in and see. I've explored the castle some, but with the cram sessions I don't know if I'll have much more time for that during the week. The work isn't a problem, I just need to work out my study schedule. Are any of the old 'Claws up for an old fashioned study group? It'll be a bit different, but I bet we can find other people interested in being involved in a group. I'm hoping to see what's down in the village for a job somewhere. There should be a potions shop or something, right?

School again, school again, jiggety jog. Or was it jig? I mentioned that around old many Jiggers and he gave me a funny look. How strange! Magical families are familiar with Mother Goose, or maybe it's just Mr. Jiggers. Either way, I'm happy to know N.E.W.T.S have been worked out. Not that I doubted it too much. With all that's happened, I can't see a couple little tests can't spoiling anything. A lot of us have gotten hands on experience now. Well, many of us? A few of us? Someone besides me, right? I hope so. Maybe Hogwarts is hiring? I mean, this new school. What was it again? You know the place! The new Hogwarts! Should be strange without our old ghosts. I know I had a few nice chats with the Grey Lady and Peeves was great for a laugh. I'm going to miss that place. I can only hope my children can return to it one day.
I think I'll visit the Leaky Cauldron after I'm finished at the shop. Anyone care to join me? My breaks nearly over, but my shift isn't much longer. Just look for me at the bar, mates.

Hogwarts is closed then? That's unbelievable! I bet there was damage, but really, closed? No, I know there was damage. You'd think it could just be cleaned up faster with magic, but there's a lot of dispelling and all of that I guess. I didn't realize how much work there was in that stuff I guess. I'd love to meet a magical architect to ask about all of this. I'd even like to help if I could get in contact with who to ask. I tried just owling the Ministry with my questions, but they're busy as anywhere else right now.
The Muggles don't seem so phased. Mum's the same, Dad too. Trevor kept asking about what happened and honestly there's only so much I can rightly tell him. The doctor in him wouldn't like that I put myself in danger and the big brother in him will agree and gang up with the doctor to deal with me.
